Assessment: Plum Discovery Survey

Can I re-do the assessment?

In this article, we will address frequently asked questions on the topic of retaking the Plum Discovery Survey.

If you have an existing Plum Profile but need to create a new Plum account with a different email for a job application, you do not need to re-take the assessment. Instead, you can link your Plum Profile to the new account or email address. The steps to complete this are outlined here.

Can a person's Plum Profile change over time?

Studies have found that the Plum Talents remain relatively stable after early adulthood. For example, an extroverted person is likely to stay around the same level of extroversion for the duration of their life. When changes occur, they are typically only moderate and result from significant life changes such as marriage, the birth of a child, living abroad and/or intense and sustained business coaching.

You can strengthen your Top Talents and develop compensatory strategies to mitigate the draining effect of your lower ranked Talents. Compensatory strategies do not change who you are at your core but can help you learn how to use draining Talents effectively in the workplace. Skill development can be completed through the Resource Library offered in the Plum Profile. To learn more about leveraging Plum’s Resource Library, visit this article.

Do I need to re-do my Plum Discovery Survey each time I apply for a new role?

No, you only need to complete the Plum Discovery Survey once. Plum measures cognitive ability and personality traits, which stabilize once a person is past their early 20s. This means that individuals who retake their assessment typically find that their results change very little unless they have undergone a major life change or engaged in business coaching.

When your Profile is used to apply for a position, your results are compared with the Match Criteria developed for the role. Each position uses a different set of Match Criteria based on the Talents most critical to success. If you have a high match score for a role, it means that you are driven by these critical Talents and are likely to excel within the role. A low match score means that you would likely find the role exhausting and demotivating, increasing your likelihood of burnout.

Plum helps you discover and land positions that strongly align with what you find naturally motivating and enjoyable, allowing you to flourish at work and beyond. Authentic, honest responses to the Plum Discover Survey will provide you with the most valuable information to support your career growth.
