What is Social Intelligence?

Social intelligence is the extent that someone does well in difficult interpersonal situations where understanding social cues is important. It is the degree to which someone is good at knowing the right thing to say to people, identifying effective strategies to resolve conflicts and disagreements, and understanding the motivation and feelings of others.

It factors highly into the Plum talents Communication and Managing Others.

Plum measures social intelligence using a situational judgment test, where the test taker is presented with a realistic, hypothetical work scenario and asked identify the best way to respond to that scenario from a list of options. This type of test has been shown to be a valid predictor of job performance across a wide range of occupations* .
